Thanks Bonnie - An Idea At The Switching Hour - A Bad Bit - And What Are Dols?

Thank you Bonnie

To kick off this weeks blog roundup I want to send a big big thank you to Bonnie, of My Bottom Smarts, for organizing Love Our Lurkers day III. This must have taken so much work to make it such a success. As a little sign of recognition, as well as the link to her blog in the blog roll I am putting her logo (that will include a link) on its own further down the side bar. Cheers Bonnie, your a star.

A brilliant idea at The Switching Hour

Serpents Embrace has come up with a real class idea to have a regular humor based, contribution posting. You can read about it through the following two links The Silly Society and Silly Society: Nuts, Bolts, and a Loose Screw. The idea is in the development stage and if you pop over to the blog you can vote on which day of the week the feature should be on (I voted Monday) and offer a bit of support and/or throw in a few ideas on how it could work.

The bad bit

Unfortunately I have found out that one "sort of" blog and one site in the resources list are related to a group of sites that, I have recently discovered, do not pay their male submissives for their roles in the production of F/m material. I do not want to start a torch and pitchfork style Witch hunt and so I will not mention the names of these sites in this post but I find this kind of sexism unacceptable, as I stated some time ago in this post Sexism in F/m Video Production - A Damn Good Rant and refuse to join any of the sites related to this production company and will no longer provide links to any of this group of sites. I'm not going to dig through my archives and delete all previous links to this group of sites (because I have a life) but from now on no site from this production company will be linked to in the side bar or in any future posts, unless I hear that they have started paying their male submissives for participating in the production of F/m material.

Mini rant
- For gods sake people if we cannot regulate this kind of B.S. out of our world ourselves, we are handing the bad vanillas a gun to shoot us with. Use your brains close your wallets to companies who have unacceptable practices like this, then they will either have to change their tune or go bust. End of mini rant.

What are Dols?

This week I accidentally stumbled over "Dols". Apparently they are the accepted unit for measuring pain. As can be seen below there are even medical devices for measuring the Dol level. They are called Dolimeters or Algometers and come in many shapes and sizes.

I'm not 100% sure how these work but I think they are applied to a bit of the patient that is not hurting and then hurts them to the same level of their main pain, when a reading can be taken. This intrigues me, imagine a pain toy that can give you a reading of how much pain is being applied, the potential for it are endless. Unfortunately, like most medical equipment, Dolimeters/Algometers cost a considerable amount of money.

Ooh, I like this Dols gadget very much. Now I have an idea for a follow up to my Pins and Needles story, brilliant.

Prefectdt,

I agree with you both about Bonnie's hardwork and about not giving in to sexism. Of course, I also agree with Mina about the Dols gadget. I really like it, and I want one!

Naturally, I also want to thank you for mentioning the Silly Society idea on your blog. It was very thoughtful of you. Thank you very much!

Dolimeters tripped that "I want! I want!" switch with me too. Unfortunately the cheapest one that I saw priced was over $500 (US) so I think Dolimeters will have to go on the "If I have a big lottery win" wish list.

Marcus, your idea sounds like it could be a whole lot of fun, lets hope plenty of people will join in.
